Christendom and Western civilization are entering their final warfare before Armageddon. In these deliberate studies of principalities and powers, we will be exposing the occult, revealing knowledge of the doctrines, words, rites, eulogies, phrases, and definitions that demon worshippers use. The only intelligent way to interpret our times is to present a biblical interpretation. Jesus prophesied that His church shall prevail. In Matthew 16:18, He said, "Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Today, the church must rise up to the greatest action of its entire history.
Thank you for being such an exciting class of learners in the Word of God. The truths we are studying pertain to living a radiant, victorious life.
Lord, we thank You for this great class. Bless them in this tremendous truth, lift them up, give them strength, and make them great. We ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Our lesson today is titled: Can Witches Stop Witches? Do spirits fight spirits? It is a very important subject because witchcraft is on the rise, even in modern Western culture.
Let us look at the Gospel of Luke, chapter 11, starting in verse 17: "But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub."
The people of that time mistakenly accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of the prince of demons. Jesus exposed the flaw in their logic: if Satan fought against his own agents, his kingdom would collapse. A divided house falls. However, Jesus then clarified the spiritual reality in verse 21: "When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils."
Jesus is the "stronger man." He strips the devil of his armor and rescues humanity from his grasp. But this passage also hints at the reality of the spirit realm—there are power structures, hierarchies, and conflicts within the demonic world.
Are witches real? Does believing in witches mean you are naive, superstitious, or uneducated? Not at all. Witchcraft is not confined to primitive parts of the world. It thrives in modern cities in America and Europe. Geography, wealth, and culture have nothing to do with it. If a person gives their mind over to the devil, the devil will deceive them.
Can a witch stop a witch? Are there degrees of power in witchcraft? Yes. The Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:12 that we wrestle against "principalities and powers." This means there are categories of authority in the spirit realm. Certain evil spirits command other evil spirits, and there are deep rivalries and hatreds among them.
We discussed the Brazilian witch doctor Arlindo Oliveira in a previous lesson. Arlindo witnessed two demons fighting over the possession of his eight-year-old brother. The battle was so vicious that the demons killed the child, cursing and screaming at each other as they left the room. There is no peace, no love, and no harmony in the devil’s kingdom.
In Matthew 12:43-45, Jesus taught that an unclean spirit cast out of a man can go and find "seven other spirits more wicked than himself" to re-inhabit the man. The key here is that one spirit had the authority to boss and direct seven other spirits. This shows a clear hierarchy of evil. (This also emphasizes why a delivered person must be filled with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, so they do not remain "empty, swept, and garnished" for demons to return.)
A witch is a person practicing the black arts who possesses supernatural powers through a pact with the devil or a familiar spirit. They intentionally interact with demon powers. Men who practice this are often called warlocks or wizards.
A sorcerer is essentially the same—a person using demonic power to predict the unknown or manipulate events. In ancient times, sorcery was often tied to the mixing of hallucinogenic drugs and potions for enchantments.
Witches embrace various forms of paganism, but their core religion is the worship of Satan. Do not think witches are easily recognizable caricatures with pointy hats. You could sit next to one in a business meeting and never know it. It is only when they enter their trances and demonic rituals that their true nature manifests.
The Bible deals very strictly with the reality of witchcraft.
Because demons are full of division, greed, and hatred, witches do indeed fight and stop other witches. They operate in a kingdom of darkness defined by conflict.
But we serve the Lord Jesus Christ, who is King of Kings! In the body of Christ, there is perfect unity through the Holy Spirit. We do not fight one another; we stand united against the forces of darkness. Let the witches fight the witches, and let the demons fight the demons. We are united in the blood of Jesus Christ to destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus said that one can chase a thousand, and two can put ten thousand to flight. When the church walks in unity, our spiritual power multiplies exponentially. Walk in that unity, and walk in the victory of God!
